The course aims to teach students the elements of academic writing to help them succeed in subsequent university courses with particular emphasis on the practice of active reading and critical thinking.
The course will begin by introducing students to the principles and strategies involved in generating writing, how to locate and evaluate sources using both physical and online resources, and how to integrate and properly cite sources using the appropriate citation system (MLA).
The course also introduces students to the fundamental steps of writing response essays, argumentative essays, and research papers and these are also the key assignments of this course.
It is a two credits course.
